This picture of Álfhildur is taken at landsmót 2014 where she won the group of six years old mares. She is now pregnant of her third foal, sire is Spaði frá Stuðlum. He is a son of the great honorary price mare Þerna frá Arnarhóli and Barði frá Laugarbökkum.
Spaði received 8,29 this summer as a total score, only 4 years old.
Beautiful winter today, nice to visit this great mare Álfhildur frá Syðri- Gegnishólum and her lovely daughter sired by Frami frá Ketilsstöðum
The fullbrothers Símon and Sólon enjoying themselves on a beautiful winter day at Syðri-Gegnishólar.
We are taming the young horses and it's going really well. The one to the right is Garpur a 15 year old son of Vikingur frá Voðmúlastöðum(the other younger ones are hiding in the boxes)
We are so happy with the girls, doing such a good job and never forget the helmet.
A new day, young horses coming to the stables, for training.
We are proud and grateful that we once again reach our aim to be nominated for both the Breeder of the year 2017 and The competition horse breeders of the year 2017. We want to use the opportunity to congratulate all the other nominated breeding farms with their great results in 2017.
It is nice to see a painting of this great mare, I think Lene Søe Rasmussen did a good job.
I saw this beautiful picture of Esther Kapinga riding Dreki frá Syðri-Gegnishólum. Dam is Draumadís frá Selfossi and sire is Brimnir frá Ketilsstöðum. The picture is taken close to Hvanneyri in the west of Iceland where Esther is in school.
Bergur has had a great year in competitions and on the breedingtrack. He is nominated to be the sport rider of the year and the breeding horse rider of the year.
Pay atention to the the eyelash.
This young stallion is two years old, so far he is the youngest son of Álfadís frá Selfossi. Sire is Arion frá Eystra-Fróðholti.
His confirmation looks good as well as his size, we believe he is five gated. This summer was his first with mares so next year we expect that at lease 10 offsprings of will be born(still some mares to scan).
The last but probably not the least foal of the year was born the 21st of August, dam is Álfhildur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum and sire is Frami frá Ketilsstöðum. Its a filly.
Yesterday these pictures were taken on the mountain above Ketilsstaðir. They show partly the landscape where our breed from Ketilsstaðir/Syðri-Gegnishólar are raised.
Ketilsstaðir owns land from the mountains down to lake Lagarfljót.
A visit to Ketilsstaðir is always nice, here are some pictures from the herd.
Lots of pictures taken in our herd this summer by Heidi Benson, follow the link below.
Álffinnur is 10 years old now and is located in Sweden, owned by Alfakungen AB. The pictures below were taken when he received his 1.price for offsprings. Álffinnur is a son of Álfadís frá Selfossi and Orri frá Þúfu.
I had a look at his offsprings in WorldFengur and their results after the season. There are now registered 30 breeding evaluated offsprings, 21 of them have got 8,00 and higher. Nine got under 8 down to 7,68 which is the lowest score.
At the moment Álffinnurs Blup is 123. It will be exciting to see the outcome of the coming calculations. At the moment Álffinnur í registered with only 129 off springs.
Thank you Svenja Neu for this nice picture of Álffinnur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum, taken at the last Landsmót in Holar 2016.
Teresa Schmelter riding Sprengja frá Ketilsstöðum, won the T1 on the German Youth Mastership (Deutsche Jugendmeisterschaften) with a big difference to the second place. She is now a member of the " German Kader" national team.
